Methods of Bible Study

Course Description

1        This course is designed to help the student fall in love with God’s love letter, the Bible.

2        This course is designed to give instruction so the student can properly interpret the Bible and apply it to his life.

 

Course Importance

1        This course is important because God’s Word is important.

2        This course is important because God’s Word is profitable.

 

Course Objectives

1        This course is designed to motivate the student to read the Bible completely through each year of his life.

2        This course is designed to have fun while taking the class!

 

Textbook

Sire, James W., Scripture Twisting: 20 Ways the Cults Misread the Bible. Downers Grove, IL: IVP Books, 1980. (The book is included in the $25 cost of the class.)

 

Course Requirements

1        Academic Requirements

A      Students will read the textbook Sire, James W., Scripture Twisting: 20 Ways the Cults Misread the Bible. Downers Grove, IL: IVP Books, 1980.

B      Students will be graded on assignments given in class.

2        Attendance Requirements

A      Students are allowed to miss only 3 classes and still be able to complete the class.

B      Students are responsible for all work missed during absences and should complete their makeup work within one week of returning to class.

  

Schedule and Cost

1        Time: Sundays, 3–5 PM

2        Dates: January 15, 2012 – April 29, 2012 (No class on 1/22, 3/18, or 4/8)

3        Location: Morningside Baptist Church, Room M107

4        Cost: $25 (cash or check to Morningside)

 

Grading

1        Grades will be based on the total number of points earned in the class. Each point has the same value.

2        Grading Scale

90–100           A

80–89             B

70–79             C

60–69             D

0–59               F
